The cherry blossoms/
have just begun flowering/
as if some white clouds/
were floating up in the sky,/
 ―
in the deep blue sky,/
when I stand by the window/
to look up and down/
all around the school garden,/
 ―
which is located/
in the Narashino field,/
where many birds sing/
to each other this morning,/
 ―
as the gentle breeze,/
which flutters and goes across/
my grand school garden,/
smooths down all the branches and/
 ―
twigs in the sunshine/
in order to let the buds/
of their blossoms out/
on an early day of March,/
 ―
before which the moon/
the full moon of February/
has already passed,/
the deep white cherry blossoms/
 ―
have just begun flowering.

 hanka

The cherry blossoms/
have just begun flowering/
when I look outside
from the window this morning
while birds sing to each other.

The cherry blossoms,/
which have begun flowering/
as if some white clouds/
were floating up in the sky/
 ―
around the school yard,/
where a large number of birds/
sing to each other,/
are now abloom at their best,/
 ―
as the warm breeze, which/
flutters on a day of March,/
makes their buds come out/
all at once in the spring sun./
 ―
Although spectators,/
be they ladies or gentlemen/
would stop to watch them/
being fascinated with/
 ―
this beauty of theirs,/
the cherry petals begin/
to be scattered and/
piled this morning by the wind,/
 ―
which has been blowing/
all through the night, like snowfall;/
their elven spirits, perhaps,/
come down here from the heavens/
 ―
so as to dance joyfully.

 hanka

The cherry petals/
begin to be scattered and/
piled up this morning/
in the wind, which blew last night,/
like snow piled on my school yard.
