As I look westward standing upon the seashore, which is much covered with the white and tiny sand, - the pine-tree sea-shore, Miho-no-matsubara, can be seen far down the bay, Tago-no-ura, - Mt. Fuji also can be seen toward the north, whose peak is covered with such brilliant white snowfall. - How much time will have passed when I come to myself? Then, I'll watch the moon, which I wait for anxiously, - toward the far east, silver sixteen-day-old moon. People on a boat upon the sea-lanes far from - Sagami-nada will also watch the full-moon between the white sails, which they have hoisted up on it, - will also watch the full-moon. hanka When I stand and watch around the seashore, Tago, clad in its pine-trees, the silver sixteen-day-old moon will be seen so clearly. |
The plum blossoms of the tree alone in my yard, where butterbur sprouts have already broken through - although the snowfall still remains, have just come out upon a spring day. Around the evening, at which - time each houses' light lights, one after another, it seems so heartless because the darkness makes it - possible to smell but impossible to see. Once the breeze comes out through the eaves into my yard, - a bush warbler, which is to visit my garden to tell his message that spring has arrived to me - singing lovely songs despite its harsh voice's tone, will also smell this scent of loving plum blossoms, - from the lone tree in my yard. hanka Upon a spring day the air of my grand garden so very fragrant with the sweet, white plum blossoms even around the evening. |
