夕へには
望月仰く
習志野の
野辺に櫻は

咲き盛り
日暮し注く
うららかな
春日を浴ひて

花の香は
道行く人を
慰めむ
夕への雨も

晴れ上かり
朝日輝く
朝ほらけ
ひとむら風の

吹き初めは
雪舞ふ如く
花の散る
習志野の野辺

晴れ渡る
大空高く
見上くれは
雲雀鳴き交ふ

声は響きぬ

櫻散る
習志野の野辺
空高く
姿見えねと
雲雀鳴き交ふ
All around the field,
Narashino, where the moon
can be seen above
in the sky on this evening,
--
the cherry blossoms
are in full bloom in the sun
comforting people,
who enjoy watching blossoms,
--
which are so fragrant
when the gentle breeze flutters.
As I look above
in the blue sky this morning,
--
when the breeze flutters
after the hard rain falling
all through last night and
the sun shines brightly eastward,
--
over cherry trees,
whose white petals are scattered
in the sudden wind,
around Narashino-field,
--
the sweet voices of
the skylarks, which are calling
though I cannot see,
can be clearly heard,
--
from the heaven this morning.

at Narashino-field, where
the cherry petals
are falling, the voices of
the skylarks can just be heard.
眺むれは
櫻の花の
賑はひし
習志野の野辺

吹く風に
雪舞ふ如く
散り果てゝ
草や木の枝

若葉をも
緑の衣
纏ひ初む
遠近野辺に

群れ生ふる
枝に紅
染むる木々
花水木をは

見つむれは
淡紅の
花弁は
蝶舞ふ如く

咲き初めぬ
習志野の野辺
雲雀上かり
日暮し声の

響く春の日

花水木
咲き初む野辺に
雲雀上かり
日暮し声の

When I look around
the Narashino-field, where
the cherry blossoms
were in full bloom in the sun
--
whose petals were once
scattered in the sudden wind
as if the snow were
falling all over the field,
--
which is now covered
with a green costume made of
leaves of the trees and
grasses where sparrows fly high.
--
When I look toward
the dogwoods whose leaves were dyed
crimson in the sun,
each of their flowers' petals
--
is abloom as if
pink butterflies were dancing
and flying about
from one branch to another,
--
above which skylarks
are chirping to each other
above in the sky
over Narashino-field
--
all day long everyday.
