| [V]Themes for tanka composition(3)(Junior course Ⅲ) (2) Tanka in February（20002）平成14年(3/14-4/12) “The moon which shines around evening in spring.” In this chapter, I will try to discuss how tanka should be composed in Kisaragi[February](3/14-4/12). The most suitable theme on which to compose tanka is Sakura(cherry blossom). Also in February the air becomes so moist that the moon shines dimly. As sakura loosens into bloom later this month, I suggested you to compose tanka on the theme, “Longing to see the cherry blossoms” two years ago and last year “The cherry blossom viewing in a famous place where you have visited before.” This time, I hope you can do on a different theme, “The moon which shines around evening in spring.” The moon is ordinarily used as an autumn theme, but it has also been a popular subject of composition in other seasons from the mist of time in Japan. Here, I will show you the following tanka by Hideyoshi Fujiwara(1183-1240), which refers to the moon that shines around evening in spring: The ripples shining/ pale white in the evening moon seem to roll over/ the young leaves of the rushes, which grow on the Naniwa-shore. by Hideyoshi Fujiwara Furthermore, for your tanka composition I will show you the following tanka, which are composed by my mentor, Fumiko Reizei, two fellow pupils, Michiko Reizei and Tsuneko Matsuoka, and myself on the theme, “The moon which shines around evening in spring.” As such phrases as ‘goes dimly across’and ‘the condensing haze’used in the following tanka by my mentor, Fumiko Reizei are ones that are the most symbolic phrases of spring, this tanka itself is suitable example of tanka composed on the theme, “The moon which shines around evening in spring”despite its not using the word, spring. This tanka also reminds most readers of the world of dreams by comparing the condensing haze to a bridge. Furthermore, the phrase, ‘a waxing young moon’reminds them of the location of the moon, because it comes out towards the south as soon as the sun sets. The tanka by Michiko Reizei is also composed to suit the theme without the word, spring, instead using ‘cherry blossoms.’ 夕霞峯に浮橋さしかけて仄々渡る弓張の月 A waxing young moon/ goes dimly across the bridge floating between peaks/ made of the condensing haze that has come out this evening. by Fumiko Reizei 吹くとなき風に散り初む山桜眺むる峯に夕月の影 The moon has risen/ on the peak of the mountain, where cherry blossoms,/ which I watch, have already begun to fall in the breeze. by Michiko Reizei 霞立つ和泉山なみ暮れ初めて仄かに出つる春の夕月 When it begins to/ get dark on Mt. 第五章（～歌の主題 3～）[初級講座Ⅲ] 第2節：如月の歌「春夕月」（はるのゆふづき） 今回は如月の歌を詠んで戴く。如月と言えば、まず「櫻」が主題となる。櫻は如月の後半になって咲き始める。また、如月は空中に水分を含んでいるので月は朧月となる。歌題として一昨年は「待花」、昨年は「名所花」を詠んで戴いたが、今年は朧に昇る「春夕月」を詠んで戴く。 如月の主題としては他に、「霞中花」「霞中雁」「曙帰雁」がある。春は櫻の花が咲き、それが散る頃には越冬していた雁が北国に帰って行くことになるのである。前述した通り、古来から日本の歌人達は自然の四季の変化に感動し、その美しさを歌に詠んできたのである。 「月」といえば秋の主題であるが、古歌には一年中詠まれている。しかし、「春夕月」を詠んだ歌は、古今和歌集、新古今和歌集のいずれにも見当たらない。但し、新古今和歌集の中で藤原秀能が「空には夕月がかかっている。今、潮が満ちてくるらしい。難波江の蘆の若葉を、きらきらと光りながら越えてくる白波よ」という意味の「夕月夜潮満ち来らし難波江の蘆の若葉を越ゆる白波」という歌を一首見つけることが出来た。「春夕月」を主題にはしていないものの、「春夕月」のほの明るい光のもとで、満潮時に、蘆の若葉を白波が越えていく情景が目に浮ぶ歌である。 「春夕月」を歌題に、歌の師範・冷泉布美子先生、歌の同門の冷泉美智子氏、松岡恒子氏と私の歌を例歌としてみた。 冷泉先生の歌の中では、「夕霞」「仄々渡る」等、初春の現象を最も象徴する言葉を配することによって、春という言葉を用いずに「春夕月」を詠み上げている。また「峯に浮橋さしかけて」と霞が峯にかかっている様子を美しい表現で纏め上げ、読者に仄々とした情景を醸し出している。また、夕張の月は７～８日目の月で、夕方日が沈むとすぐに南に輝く月である。つまり、歌に詠まれている峯は南にそそり立っていることが解る。 冷泉美智子氏の歌は「風に散り初む山桜」を眺めている峯にかかる夕月ですので、弥生に近い如月の終わりの「春夕月」ということになる。冷泉布美子先生を始め、冷泉美智子氏の歌のように、「春」をそのまま詠み込まなくとも「春夕月」という歌題を詠み上げることが出来る。 Plaza-Plaza Tanka Cornerプラザ歌壇入選者 ①小林和歌子②高山薫③山本綾子④宿谷政枝 ①山桜 咲き初む峰に 霞立ち 眺むる空に 夕月の影 Above the peak with/ the cherry blossoms abloom, where the haze comes out,/ the clear full moon has risen in the sky as I look up. by Wakako Kobayashi ②梅の花 今を盛りと 匂ひつつ 揺るゝ梢に 春の夕月 The plum blossoms are/ just now abloom at their best, while the dim full moon/ can be seen through their top twigs waving gently in the breeze. by Kaoru Takayama ③風吹けは 匂ひ誘ふ 我庭の 梅の花照らす 春の月影 The dim full spring moon,/ which lights up the plum blossoms which are so fragrant/ in my garden in the breeze, can be seen in the evening. by Ayako Yamamoto ④富士の山 浮橋かけて 雲間より 仄かに出る 春の夕月 Among the long clouds/ trailing around Mt.
